Steal Like An Artist

• 10 Things Nobody Told You About Being Creative

Written & Illustrated by Austin Kleon

Steal Like An Artist is written in a witty and clever first person point of view. The witty no nonsense style makes the time spent reading it a quick and delicious treat.

Steal Like An Artist is a small nugget of a book that is:

  • Informational

  • Clever

  • Easy to Read

Steal Like An Artist is chunk full of information. Kleon starts off with stealing… Not steal steal, but to steal like an artist steal.  BIG DIFFERENCE!

After covering the basics of stealing, Kleon provides his readers inspiration on how create, share with others, and navigate on the world wide web.

The content, photographs, and illustrations Kleon includes in the book are basic, direct, and to the point. 100% Clever! A perfect example of this is the flow chart he created to determine if something is worth stealing.

Now I ask you, how much more basic, direct, and to the point can this flow chart get?

Each Chapter is basically a bullet point (and we all know I love me some bullet points!). Direct and plainly spoken. Love that! And if that's not enough, half the book contains photos and illustrations, which to me, is icing on top of the cupcake, especially for us visual people.

Steal Like An Artist kept me interested and entertained. I devoured this book in probably an hour or less... I'm telling ya, it's an EASY read!

In Steal Like An Artist, Kleon keeps things real. There is nothing sugar coated or anything hyped up. It's presented in a black and white color theme, bullet point style writing with simple illustrations. Sorta makes this book sound like a boring snooze fest, but it's anything but, trust me.

If you haven't read this book, then go out right now and get your hands on a copy!

Speaking of stealing... The concept of 'stealing like an artist' isn't new. I recently posted an artist study on Pablo Picasso who was quoted as saying "Bad artists copy. Good artists steal."
